The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a standardized test which assesses the English language abilities of students who are not native English-speakers. It is administered by ETS (Educational Testing Service). It evaluates the potential success of an individual to use and understand standard American English at a college level TOEFL is a way of assessing and demonstrating English language proficiency if your first language is not English. It is a required exam for those students wishing to begin undergraduate or graduate study in the US TOEFL is available in over 100 countries.

Who takes it and why?

Nonnative English speakers at the 11th-grade level or above should take the TOEFL test to provide evidence of their English proficiency before beginning academic work. The test content is considered too difficult for students below 11th grade. Most people take the TOEFL test as a prerequisite for admission into colleges and universities where English is used or required. In addition, many government, licensing, and certification agencies and exchange and scholarship programs use TOEFL scores to evaluate the English proficiency of people for whom English is not their native language

Score Validity:

The score is valid for 2 years.

Score & Duration:

Total Score is 120 Marks & duration of the test is 4Hrs approx.

Sending Scores:

The score is sent to 4 universities by ETS free of cost at the time of exam. ETS charges additionally for scores sent to universities later.

By phone, fax and person at resource centers or mail.

The TOEFL test is Internet Based Test (iBT) in India.
